Country is the catchall term America's heartland music. Its heritage is derived as much from the hillbilly music of Appalachia as from Rock and traditional Folk. Although deeply fragmented into many styles and sub-genres, Country music most often distinguished by its accessible and lyrical content -- relationships, loss, infidelity, jobs, sadness, etc. -- and a distinctive guitar intensive twang. Country in its broadest sense covers everything from the pure Country Rock of Credence Clearwater Revival to the traditional Nashville sound of Eddie Rabbitt to the Contemporary Country of superstars like Garth Brooks and Shania Twain.
