Artist Info

From :

• Raleigh

Musical Style :

• If Big Black, the Pixies, Nine Inch Nails, the Subhumans, Black Flag, and the Sisters of Mercy were all put in a box -- and that box was pounded repeatedly with a mallet until all contents within were hopelessly jumbled together -- the result might approximately describe the sound of the Baptist Death Ray.

Musical Influences :

• Big Black, the Subhumans, the Pixies

Brief Description :

• A blend of Punk, Industrial, individualism, anger and Christianity.

Artist History :

• The Baptist Death Ray has been making music since 1990, but he's historically had problems finding people to work with. Though he prefers playing in a band with other people, the difficulty of finding other musicians who share his musical interests has forced him to strike out on his own.

Other Info.

Good things people say about Baptist Death Ray

"I just listened to 'Richmond' and I think I will now go out and go postal at a MacDonalds. What the F!@# do you do to get that tone out of that guitar? HEAVY HEAVY HEAVY." -- Vince de Piante, Alice, concerning Richmond (not yet listed on this page)

"I have to say that I dug the rawness, the lyrics (and I understood them... every single one of them... that was so nice for a change) of this tune. It blew me away, and WHOA. I have a ton of friends that I am goign to let hear this one." -- Delena, Jumalatar, concerning Molly's New Game (not yet listed on this site).

This is an adaptation of "Nightmare Age," one of my punk songs. I was playing with ACID Music one day, and discovered that Nightmare Age worked really well as a bluesy, country song. This is how it would have sounded if Bob Dylan had written it.
