Good things people say about The Silos

THE WASHINGTON POST It has been 12 years since the Silos were voted the "Best New American Band" in Rolling Stone's 1987 Critics Poll. The Silos were too prickly and droning to ever become the next big thing, but they were also too smart and seductive to ever be abandoned by their loyal following. So they have endured to make a sixth album, "Heater," which contains all the above qualities. The sluggish tempos, the bristling guitar riffs and the weary, bleak vocals make it difficult to approach the songs, but once you do you notice how elegant the submerged melodies and guitar figures are and how tellingly the lyrics capture the frustrations of adulthood. - Geoffrey Himes
