| | From : | | • Chicago | | Musical Style : | | • Blues based, Americana with a touch or Dr. John and Delbert thrown in for good measure. Never afraid to experiment StikMen sometimes use banjos or accordions to flavor the mix. The honest and soulful vocals of Norman D. are exceptional and easily recognized. | | Musical Influences : | | • Albert King, Kim Simmons, Little Feat, Delbert McClinton | | Brief Description : | | • Originaly formed as ThrillBilly, Mario Massi and Kevin Paul started building the ultimate "guitar band". Things have changed a little since late 1995, the act now features a stage show that rivals the top line touring talent. | | Artist History : | | • With the exception of Muscle Shoals Bassist Daddy Wags and St Louis Vocalist Norman D, StikMen hail from Chicago Illinois. The band was formed by ex Jan James Guitarist Kevin Paul and local Producer/Guitarist Mario Massi. Originally formed as a guitar band, the addition of Keyboardist Phil Balsano, has propelled StikMen to new heights. Recently signed to The Westwood Group in New Jersey, StikMen have set their sights on expanding their growing fan base within North America and Europe |

StikMen
Trevor Knightsmith
One of the joys of reviewing music is the occasional CD that drops through my letter box. This week I had the good fortune to receive one entitled “you gotta believe” by Chicago’s Stikmen (formerly known as Thrillbilly). To cut a long story short, this CD is nothing short of brilliant. From the opening bars of “Fast Mover”, which has a Cajun feel about it right through to the closing track “Coming to your rescue”, every track is a joy to behold. | | Good things people say about StikMen | | "StikMen's first album, you gotta' believe, is starting to make people stand up and take notice. These well crafted songs have enough honesty and emotion to get you singing the hooks in your car." Roland Stone, Accent on Tampa Bay.**
StikMen are very talented and very versatile, with numbers ranging from blues to rock to Zydeco. Every one I listened to was delightful, including the blues vocalist tune, "Smile On My Face." I decided "She's All Right," which also has a bluesy sound, is my favorite of all of them for download. Norman D's vocals have that quality that grabs you and makes you drop everything else just to listen. HIGHEST RATING, EXCELLENT, GET THE CD! Xemplary Reviews, 10/99"**
These guys have it "goin' on"!! The whole band showed up for this gig. Tantalizing guitar breaks, thumping bass and even horns make up this ultra-tight blues/jazz/rock band. The vocalist has a Louis Armstrong on steroids tone that grabs you and won't let go - until he says so!
