There are many different software packages that will allow you to do many great things here at ListenSmart.com. Whether you want to turn your favorite CD into several MP3 files or just download and play great music, we'll help you do each of these things. To get started, you'll need to download some important software (if you don't already have it).
Note: Be sure to check the hardware requirements before downloading any software.
Players
- Players allow you to play MP3's, WAV's, and many other types of sound files from your computer. We recommend a number of players, depending on your operating system. If you do not already have player installed on your computer, click on an operating system for a list of choices.
Rippers
- Rippers are software programs that convert tracks from your audio CD's into uncompressed WAV files on your computer. The advantage of ripping a track into a WAV file is that it gives you the ability to edit the song before compressing it. Click below to find the ripper that best suits your needs.
Encoders
- Encoders allow you to convert WAV files into MP3 files. By compressing the file into an MP3, you will be saving valuable hard drive space while still maintaining excellent sound quality.
Skins
- A skin is basically a different visual design for your MP3 player. They can easily be downloaded and applied to your player, offering you tremendous flexibility in changing the player's appearance.
Note: Be sure to double-check your software's capabilities. Not all MP3 players have the ability to support skins.
Plug-Ins
- Plug-Ins can be described as special add-on features that enhance your player's capabilities and functionality. They allow you to customize your player according to your personal preferences. Many plug-ins will even allow you to create special audio and visual effects to accompany your music.
