| | From : | | • Chicago | | Musical Style : | | • A Band Called Gus follows a lot of musical territory. We tend to work in an electronic medium but like getting a bit heavy now and then. Most of our material is written in creative bursts and has an immediacy sometimes lacking in highly rehearsed, high budget studio efforts. | | Musical Influences : | | • David Bowie, The Smiths, Ultravox, every band that ever said we couldn't rock out, older Peter Gabriel, Pixies | | Brief Description : | | • mid-fi art rock meets electronic | | Artist History : | | • Ante Marijan say's to Bruce Satinover, "I'm tired of doing alternative songs." Bruce says, "yeah, so am I." Both decide to write whatever strikes them at the moment without worrying about genre classifications. Some call it indulgent, we call it honest. |

| | Press Reviews | | Raw42: as far as i can tell, a band called gus is a side project which should become less of a side project. interesting goth/electronica concepts mixed in with live instruments and off the wall lyrics/vocals. worth my download time and probably yours. this is different, subtle electronic beats with a hint of distorted guitar. when the vocals in fashion plate started (the first two lines), i thought it was a sample of an obscure early genesis song i didn't know, because it sounds like peter gabr | | Good things people say about A_Band_Called_Gus | | you sound like David Bowie when he did interesting stuff, can you get more over the top? | | Other artists we recommend | | | | Add Yourself to the Artists Mailing List |
