Miles Davis' electric period) as well as angular, post-punk funk assimilators such as
Red Hot Chili Peppers and Primus, funk as a viable commercial and artistic outlet
seems to have been an anomoly of the 1970s, for the most part. That does not,

After a decade of playing and recording both with his own band Jeffrey Normal &Magick, who released 2 LP'S and performed at Lollapalooza, and with the Father of the Psychedelic Guitar James Gurley with whom
he toured Japan and recorded the album Nirvana Joe and many others including DonCherry, Sonny Simmons, George Michalski, Sky Saxon, Carol Doda, Delmar Brown, Regi Harvey, Doni Harvey and many more, Jeffrey Normal meets road-hardened multi-saxophonist Bill Bousfield.
They form a band which Bill names 3 hole PUNCH,relating to a variety of references
including 3 Qabalistic 0's, AIN SOPH AUR, The Trips Festivals in San Francisco, and of course, the obvious sexual and sacred connotations. They meet veteran New York drummer Rich Maslach and Chris Davies becomes their incredible guitarist as well as the young iconoclastic phenom Drew Thompson.
They recorded "How do you like my cat" a 7 song 74 minute rump rompous of improvised FUN! |
