Search Tips
We've made searching here at ListenSmart.com the easiest way to find FREE music on the Internet. Through our sophisticated SmartSearch technology, you're sure the find music that meets your musical preferences.
Also, by using the advanced search feature next to the search box, you have the ability to limit your search to different portions of the site. This feature is helpful if you only want to search within a certain region, genre, etc.
Search for Music
- Find Songs by Popularity
- This feature allows you to find out which songs have received the most downloads for a given period of time.
- Find Songs by Style/ Genre
- From Classical to Rap, we have the musical genre you prefer.
- Find Similar Songs
- By entering the names of some songs that you currently enjoy, we'll help you find some songs that are similar.
- Find Songs by Region
- Looking for a song that originates from a particular region? Use the "Find Songs by Region" function.
- Find Songs by Instrument
- Choose your favorite musical instrument(s) and we'll provide you a list of songs that have those instruments.
Search for Artists
- Find Artists by Popularity
- With this feature you can find out which artists have received the most downloads, home page visits, CD sales, or have been selected most often as a "Favorite Artist".
- Find Artists by Style/ Genre
- From Classical to R&B, ListenSmart.com has a wide selection of artists from which to choose. For a broad search, choose one of the genres. For a more specific set of artists, choose one of your favorite sub-genres.
- Find Artists by Region
- Looking for some hot local talent? Here's a great place to find the best new artists who live near you.
- Similar Artists
- Because ListenSmart.com is comprised of thousands of artists from around the world, it is likely that you will be unfamiliar with their music. However, as a new artist registers, they are asked what popular or familiar artists is the most similar to their own in terms of sound and style. Therefore, using this feature, you can quickly find new music that you are very likely to enjoy based on your current preferences.
Keyword Search
To use the keyword search simply type into the box located in the upper right hand corner of the screen. Enter one or more keywords using any combination of the artists name, the song title, and/or album. If you use more than one keyword, our search engine will restrict the results to artists/ songs that each match all the keywords you enter.
Here's an example using Keyword Search:
Entering "The John Smith Band" finds songs by and about The John Smith Band.
Entering "Smith" finds artists/ songs by and about The John Smith Band as well as songs by other artists named Smith.
