West Africa includes all or parts of the countries of Senegal, Gambia, Guinea, Guinea Bissau, Mali, Burkina Faso, Niger, Nigeria, Benin, Togo, Ghana, Ivory Coast, Liberia and Sierra Leone. The Yoruba people make up the dominant cultural group in this area, a group with many musical traditions and the most developed theatrical tradition in Africa.
