Thai Classical Music

The most sophisticated of the classical traditions of Southeast Asia is that of Thailand. In this style, the low gongs play the structural element of the music while a higher xylophone (ranatek) and fiddle (saw duang) play a melody and variation that contrasts in complex ways with the underlying structure.
