Folk Revival

In the 1930s and 1940s a commercial style cultivated by Pete Seeger and Woodie Guthrie. Featuring acoustic instruments, the folk music revival appealed to the urban middle class, especially college students, and was associated with left-wing politics. Since that time there has been a series acoustic, folk-revival-like movements, notably the Protest Folk of the 1960s.
