Funk With Me

  Full Description
It all started as a little session with Steve. He and I were messing around with my new equipment, and we came upon a funky touch-wah setting. So, I recorded a bit of him doodling around. While sitting around playing video games, Andy had this crazy idea that one of the songs in the game said "Funk with me", though we fell about with laughter the way he said it. That original manner in which he said the line was, sadly, not captured in the piece (one of those "you had to have been there" moments), but the phrase lives on.

Review:   This slippery tune has a groovin bass-line filtered through an auto-wah that gives it its quack and snarl... This is layered in with a tasty rendition of the James Bond theme padding the background in a subtly cool way. All of the above sits nicely atop a drum loop that builds in intensity. A "mod-wheel" synth line rounds out this catchy tune. It's well thought-out, and very interesting. Big plusses for featuring the bass!!! The only thing that detracts from this piece (although it only happens in one spot) is the insertion of the title phrase... It just seems out-of-place.

All-in-all, it's a cool tune worthy of a download and listen. It is gracing my growing library as I write this.
