Living in a constant haze, constant fear surrounds me.
Lost inside my mind and the bottom drops beneath.
Careful to the point of obsession doesn't seem to help.
Every step I take presents danger to myself.
Waken in a cold sweat, heart pounds heavy in my ears.
Screaming out to no one and no one always hears.
Begging for relief from this perpetual vertigo.
Wave on wave of fear penetrates deep into my soul.
I run, but I can't hide, the scars, they run too deep.
Acrophobic nightmares forever haunt me in my sleep.
Shaken by the terror that keeps me locked in icy hands.
Does no good to talk because no one really understands.
Mind lost in a whirlwind, and breaks apart under the stress.
Endless is the torment I face inside my sickness.
(chorus)
Earth now circles under me, white haze is all I see.
Thoughts are chaos in my head, no sanctuary remains.
Shackled to my fears, I can't escape my self-made hell.
Fall into the vortex and let it take away my hell.

I came up with this song while suffering from a really bad cold. It made me feel rather dizzy, and so I thought it might be fun to write a song about dizziness. Since vertigo is a more interesting form of dizziness than a cold, that was what I choose as my subject. The title is merely German for vertigo. I myself am not afraid of heights, but I am rather claustrophobic, so I can understand, in a sense, of how an acrophobic might feel. |
