I seriously doubt that the majors are, going to allow Napster to pay them back with money that theoretically(it was their product that was pilfered) is theirs already Napster owes billions in arrears too. It would be like me borrowing 100k from you so I could pay you 50k. I think the fine folks at Napster think everyone is just plain stupid. ------------------ IP: Logged |

Yeah here do you want 2 billion of your own money These idiots are audacious as well as stupid.
Then maybe strike a deal with the majors for use of their content. I if I were them wouldn't go around insulting peoples intelligence, which they seem to have a perpencity to do this all the time.

I have to agree that napster is sinking their own ship with these ridiculous offers.. They have to start talking percentages again if they want to make any deal.. 75%-85% of all revenue should go to the labels and napster should still be able to make out very well..

quote: I agree. And this is probably where it's all gonna end up. But you got to admit, a billion dollars gets you a lot more attention in the press than 75%. Or 85%. Or 95%. Since there's also a lot of politics involved in this whole deal, I think that's why Napster did it. Or maybe El Brujo is right, and they are just stupid. ------------------ IP: Logged |

Well I would say at this point I am right because we all know the arrears are going to be substantial somewhere in the $ billions This means Napster is behind the 8 ball they really have nothing to offer anyone other than a huge judgement that somehow needs to be paid. I would say their goose is cooked. They only have that name that could bring 50 million customers but that was when it was free, the pay service will chop that down rather quickly. They are screwed pretty good who needs them. [This message has been edited by Snake Crew (edited 02-22-2001).] IP: Logged |

quote: Rene, you keep focusing on the money that Napster "owes" the majors. Have you ever considered the implications that this file sharing technology has on the distribution of music in the "new age" and how you might be able to benefit from it? The whole focus of everything I've seen you post on the subject revolves around the pure hatred of the organization known as "Napster" and addresses nothing of the technology and how it can be manipulated to your benefit. How do you want to go on in the future? You expect to just sit in the gutter of the status quo? Or, are you going to answer the call of what possibilities that this new technology can bring to not only the signed artists, but more importantly, the independent artist to succeed where they never even had the chance before? Like I said, it is the forward looking individuals who will seize the opportunity and start turning the course of events in their favor. Those that don't will be left behind. Pure and simple. ------------------ IP: Logged |
