quote: if napster is shut down, dont buy a single fucking cd, dont turn on the radio, dont watch mtv, vh1 or anything pertaining to music and record companies no matter what and demand that napster be brought back. until it is do not even buy posters of bands that are for or against napster. by doing this, napster will have to be brought back or else music will die. in real time it may take years for napster to be shutdown but napster may survive. if oj got away clean, i think napster has a fairly good chance although right now it aint lookin too good. if not, boycott.
quote: Well, 50 million of us can't be wrong, or can we. I agree boycot the purchase of music industry CD's, Cassettes, Videos, Mini Discs etc and even if it doesent break them they will feel the bite of the apple they have just lost. They have ripped us off for years now is the time to fight back and help napster..
quote: Sure ya, knock yourself out. Seeing how this would have pretty much zero effect on the music industry, have fun. You folks screaming and yelling here in these forums are what is known as the 'vocal minority'. The average music player and even the average casual Napster user simply won't care or participate in any boycott. Although it's fun seeing the same thread posted by 20 different people thinking it will actually mean anything. Good luck with the boycott.
quote: to the guy above me. maybe your right.. maybe the botcott wont happen. maybe we'll be slaves to the music industry forever, maybe yes its likly. but if we sit back and do nothing its a sure thing. we have to stop shouting and start acting free rein 4 all
quote: Now according to the internet Privacy Bill, Freedom of Speach is as much a right on the internet as it is in America and many other countries across the world. Therefore if there is no Napster, what in the bloddy world is going to stop me from publishing music on my FTP or HTTP site? And when I do that who in the world is going to be bothered with suing me. I mean the record labels can't afford a law suit against every person in the US who crates and distributes MP3's. If Napster is shut down, I believe that we should all band together, build our own FTP server, get a massive connection to the Net and Buy one copy of every CD and rip all the songs into MP3 or my favourite, VQF. All we need is a good RAID array and we can build dual images so if someone comes allong with legal action, the next person puts all the files back up on another server. Eventually, what the hell is anyone going to do? Keep suing us for all of eternity. I mean after the cost of the server and the net connection and all do they expect to get any money out of us? And if we can't pay any money who is going to pay for the next legal challenge agains the next group. It's almost the same with Napster. The server handles stuff like logins and searching, so all we need is to find a employee of Napster who will hand off a copy of the server code before the FEDS come and confiscate all copies of it and we can run it in any country across the world. We all pay for our net connections and we share the files, not Napster, all we really need the centeral Napster server for is search, authentification and chat features (Not that I'm trying to put Napster down, they did develop all this stuff). I mean there's that offshore platform with fiber optic net connections where we could host the Napster server and no goverment or law enforcement agency worldwide could do a thing about it whout breaking the UN treaties covering International Waters. So US Congress would have to go screw itself and the FEDS could sit around on their asses without crap all to do. Why Napster hasn't done this already I'm not sure, I mean just save the money for lawyers, etc and move into international waters. Would save a lot of trouble.

Davey Boy Crocky organized a boycott of Premium Artists on MP3.com. I joined up.Haven't downloaded a one of 'em. It's easy to do. By the way, it's an honor to have the Artist Formerly Known As Prince posting here now. Oh yeah, tell those guys over at Napster to count me in. I'm real good at doing nothing. Which is all they are asking people to do. See ya in the Purple Rain, bro. ------------------
