I have decided to crack down on people putting my music on NAPSTER. Just like Metallica, dammit. Maybe there's some money in it. So I downloaded media enforcer.

http://mediaenforcer.tripod.com/enforcer/index.html

Typed in "Kenny Lee" at 5 AM. Found 20 copies of my music on NAPSTER. Got their IP addresses too.

Then I typed in "Aragon". Hmmmm... about 60 tunes. But I've only got two songs up for free download so I guess that's all right.

Then I typed in "Cortazar". DAMN! Hundreds of songs. Maybe thousands.

Finally, I typed in "Metallica". About 40 tunes.

What does this all mean? Kenny Lee is working on a new album of love. From my heart to yours. Webpages in 12 languages. Where's that damn sequencer instruction booklet?

Scour.com was the one that surprised me......... Everything, including all the collaborations I've ever done was available there.

Tom, media enforcer is not needed on ScourEx because you get the entire database.

The developer of media enforcer is working on expanding the capabilities of the program. It has a tremendous potential for allowing us to track our music everywhere.

One day you will be able to type in your name and every online copy of your music will be visible.

The subtle point I was getting to is:
listensmart.com needs to get together with mediaenforcer. As an online publisher, tracking the material online will be the most important part. This developer has done a lot of listensmart.com's work, for FREE!

Oh, and Tom, my little description was more of my wacky humour.

The reality is: Your stats kick my ass on Napster and ScourExchange. Just like they do everywhere else. And Ernesto's stats are off the friggin'chart.

And there are now 40 people that Metallica is gonna put in jail if they can.

My thought is to create a shareware program -something really useful - and distribute it on Gnutella.

In addition to it's overt function, it would detect that the computer it was on was distributing my music, trap the user's credit card #, and generate a small CC charge for each distributed copy.

Of course the software license (which no one ever reads) would contain a blanket permission to charge the credit card.

And then I could license this service to other artists for a small cut.

The scary thing is, that if I've thought of this, someone else is probably already programming it. LOL

Dr. O, I don't think you could pull this off legally. But I do think a version of this is what we will end up with on the web.

You need to contact the mediaenforcer guy with your idea. He would dig it.

It would be an interesting court case - since the user technically agreed to the system by using the software. The precedent set could invalidate all software licensing. Then where'd we be???

Tom, sometimes I feel like a nut. Some times I don't. I have been called "eccentic" a lot. Which is a nut with some money, I guess.

Anyhow, nut that I am, I'm getting into this media enforcer thing.

I just did a 5 PM check and found 70 confirmed Kenny Lee files on Napster. On further inspection the majority of these Kenny Lee files seem to come from iuma.com which surprises me.

I also did a check on "aragon" and came up with a lot of files. So many I didn't really want to count 'em all.

I'm running a search on "cortazar" right now.
Hundreds and hundreds of files. Everytime it hits a server. More files. Whoa!

Tom, I could see a BILLBOARD CHART coming out of this. The Napster chart. All you would need is some additional software to calculate everything.

And I'm also excited to see that people like independent music enough to keep it on their hard drives to share. This is the most positive sign that I have seen yet that independent artists are starting to make a dent in the worldwide music distribution market.

Now if we could just figure out how to make some money from it?

For the longest time I wondered about these I-Drive accounts. MP3.com use to push them and they were even part of our stats until recently. One of the things that use to baffle me was there was no advertising for these things yet they were free. How can this be?
Who's paying for this stuff?
I still use a couple of them today. Still free....no ads!!!!
When I went to Scour after reading some stuff you talked about Kenny,
Low and behold ..............I-Drive accounts holding MP3 Files etc........

Hmmmmmmmmmmmmm Very interesting....
There was a brief period when I-Drive downloads surpassed all other downloads.....
Hmmmmmmmmmmmmm.
It also really surprises me that when MP3.com just dropped them from our stats that no one said anything.

I found 15 references (on Scour) to songs I have on MP3c, RollingStone, and Riffage.

No I drive stuff.

But I DID find one reference to me in a song "Tronster" did called "Move My pants"

Venture capitalists, Tom.

The kind of people that invest millions in websites that lose money. Like the guys that put 11 million into mp3.com at first or the guys that just put 15 million into Napster.

They aren't worried about profit or loss or ROI right now. Just looking to that big IPO payout a year from now.

hmmmm......damn! Wish Sean could find some of those guys.

Of course nothing is Really Free and when I asked "Who's Paying for this Stuff" I knew something was up I just wasn't quite sure what.

That little burst of I-Drive accounts enabled whoever to get a huge library of songs right away.....

Bingo.......instant product for the taking....

Yep.

Here's the problem Tom.

On mp3.com you get paid for downloads. But once people download your songs and put them on Napster or ScourExchange or Gnutella you get nothing for all those future downloads.

And as more and more product shows up on Napster how are you going to get them to come to listensmart.com? And click through several pages and fill out a form?

So, I don't know. The record industry reports that CD sales are dropping near campuses. Or anywhere there is broadband cable. Blank CD sales are skyrocketing in the same areas.

As you said, Tom. Bingo.

Well, at least now you're seeing how it all works.

Hey, I've about got this sequencer thing figured out. That and a few pirated graphics and I've got a brand new act.

I Think you'd better stick to DA BLUES.......
although KENNY LEE ARAGON does have a ring to it.
Hey did Budweiser kick down some bucks on your guitar? Looks like one of Bo Diddley's.

Most people just think I'm the ambient synth dude but I've played rock guitar most of my life......before exploring synths in the 90's

I had a sponsorship with Budweiser. They gave two of those "bowtie" guitars. The public really gets off on 'em. By accident, it sounds great, too. The pickups are microphonic and get a powerful sound.

I also have a sponsorship with Coors Light and two Coors Light guitars. And I got some money and lots of promo stuff, like T-shirts, hats, posters. I have no problem being a shill, as you can tell.

I'll check out your guitar cuts. Everything I've heard of yours so far is really good. So don't worry about me competing with you. Plus, even though you do a lot of business, Ernesto does the most. So my keyboard stuff will be much more in the romance vein, if you know what I mean?

Dusty, I just checked and found lot's of pirated files under your name. Then I realized that your last name is not Springfield.

But I did find a file under Dusty_Woods.

216.68.107.201 is the IP address of the pirate in case you want to get him kicked off the service,
