How can Napster help new artists?

Those guys must be schizo. This is the funniest shit around.

By creating a profile at Napster, your music will be available to the largest online community of music lovers ever.

So how the hell is that suppose to help artists pay the bills.

Aside from being able to create and edit your own profile, you can read insider articles, check out the best software and services, and check out the best new bands in every genre.

So what? What do you have to offer artists which will pay the artists for Napster using the artists' music? Obviously, Napster is making money off of the artists. Oh, Napster is really disappointed that I broughtup that point. So sorry.

Here is what you can do in this section:

Fans can Find Artists, search by name and by similar sounding artists
If you're an unsigned artist unfamiliar with Napster, you can Create a Profile and submit it to our searchable database

We've assembled a host of Resources that help Artists promote themselves via the Napster Music Community
Use our message boards or chat rooms to Discuss, what else, music with your favorite artists or loyal fans!
If any one entity could create a real buzz for an indie band or artist...it's Napster. If any group of indie companies can effectively get the word out it's "The Affiliates."

For God's sake, deal with hackers and pirates who are ignoring the copyrights of artists...

Check out the irony of it all. They copy protected this page with their own copy write! FU Napster.

I posted this message @ Napster bbs:

quote:
Napster respects copyright law and expects our users to do the same. Unauthorized copying, distribution, modification, public display, or public performance of copyrighted works is an infringement of the copyright holders' rights. You should be aware that some MP3 files may have been created or distributed without copyright owner authorization. As a condition to your account with Napster, you agree that you will not use the Napster service to infringe the intellectual property rights of others in any way.

What a bunch of bs crap this is. What is the real truth? The real truth is that Napster does not respect the copyrights of artists yet they copyright their program and each page on this site so no one will rip them off.

Does higher education teach morals & ethics in higher education? Apparently not. More like "do it to others before they do it to you attitude".

Well, I have high hopes for you all and realize that your nervous system is not yet fully developed.

However, maybe someday you will remember this post. On that day you created your great novel, invention, theory, etc. and someone else ripped it off. You will probably say "how could someone do that to me? I am a good person and hurt no one." Thats right. You supposedly did to others as you wanted them to treat you.

If you ripoff others, so shall you be ripped off. Its the law.

Good luck guys, you'll need it,

Napster has a new CEO. One of the biggest attorneys in the field. Plus, Napster just got 15 million dollars in VC money.

Looks like the new guy is moving real fast.

I would expect even bigger changes and expansion of Napster's direction in the future.

I went to create a profile and then I looked at the Napster artist agreement.

Nope, don't think I'll sign up just yet.

This pretty much is what the average artist has to deal with on the net. Lets say you make a music CD. How much time, energy and money went into producing it? How many minutes does it take for a Napster to "rip" the audio tracks, store as MP3s, then distribute over all of creation. Does not seem quite fair. Luckily not everyone out there is a napster with a hacker or pirate mentality.
