I want to check out songs related to suicide. If you have them or know of any please list here. I'd also be interested in the lyrics. One of our friends committed suicide yesterday. We don't know or can imagine why. Even though there are always signs in hindsight, this might be a case of momentary dillusion. Sorry to be a downer. ------------------ IP: Logged |

Sorry about your friend ![]() I do a blues version of Robert Frost's "Stopping in the Woods on a Snowy Evening" (which I think is about suicide), but I haven't recorded it 'cause I have no idea how to deal with the copyright issues. Dr O ------------------ IP: Logged |

My song "Suicide Airlines" by Social Spit Refers to USAir Employee David Burke, who not only took himself out, but took everyone else on the PSA flight with him. ------------- I had a Girfiend that suicided in 1984, by taking an entire bottle of antidepressants and laying down on a beach in Encinitas during the winter. She was in a coma for a month. I don't know if she was making a statement to me or to her parents- I don't even know if I had anything to do with it. IP: Logged |

Sorry to hear about your friend, Armen. I wrote these words about 6 years ago, picture if you can the singer looking in a mirror, that's pretty much how I felt at the time. Shoot you down I think you've overgrown your reputation CHORUS: You know you've lost your motivation CHORUS if I only had a gun ©Rallyrecords

Armen, So sorry to hear this,... Ironically/sadly I watched a very moving documentary last evening entitled; "By their own hand" Your post reminds one of the reality of this topic. Again, sorry for your loss. ------------------ IP: Logged |

People commit suicide because they lost hope. The future is just another day like today. I know because I once contemplated it very carefully. Then I realized that I forgot that just waking up everyday was a miracle. I had forgotten the wonder of being alive. And every once in a while, I forget again. The curse of modern society. The only way to prevent this sort of tragedy is to keep on reminding each other. [This message has been edited by SynIll (edited 05-20-2000).] IP: Logged |

Thank you everyone. I appreciate your concern. I still can't believe he thought about it for long or planned it. I think it just happened in a moment of paranoia. Like running away from someone and jumping down a staircase, videogame-like. Maybe it's just my way of digesting the fact. It did give all of us a jolt, in our everyday bordering mundane life. I do believe if music was not a sort of outlet (both playing and listening) that there would be many more suicides in the world. ------------------ IP: Logged |
