Just thinking about how I would conduct myself if I were wanting to build a successful Artist's Coalition:

I wouldn't want to go around calling Artists stupid.

I wouldn't want to engage in flame wars with fellow artists. I would encorage healthy debate about issues, but would always want to treat my peers with respect.

I wouldn't want to enrage entire thriving communities of Artists. I would want to befriend them.

I would want to include all Artists, especially those whose views often differed from my own. In fact, I would want to be receptive and polite to any and every artist, regardless of race/sex/ethnicity/genre/etc.

I would want to build relationships with people at OMD's, not destroy them.

A successful Artist's Coalition must be the voice of the Entire Artist Community. Artists will often find themselves in the minority on some issue or another. It will be a very tough job, and will take a lot of patience, tolerance, and diplomacy from many people.

I wonder if there is any hope of really doing this? Thoughts?

I think I wouldn't be a good person to have as a rep, I'm really bad at letting people fuck with me.

But I also think you're right.

I think you would be a GREAT person to front something like that, you have all the patience and clear thinking that it would take. No comparative insult intended. I just don't have those qualities.

OBVIOUSLY am no diplomat. Which is why it was explained that I would not be the spokesperson when I {was} trying to get people interested in The Artist Coalition. I am no longer trying to do so. In fact, it was your post that spured me to join Musicans United.

When Dave was posting as I M Knotright, I posted many times that I admired his writing and his ideas. I will defer to others if I have respect for them. I do have specific agenda: To help myself in my goals. I don't mind if a few others benefit from my efforts in that regard. Many may benenfit that don't deserve to but that is part of the pkg.
