Everybody can relax. The hamsters will be busy runnin' the wheel at mp3.con in a day or so. They now know that their squeeking was futile. The love their masters again.

THE WISDOM OF PARADISE

Q2. Why did mp3.con go ahead with that when it seems that a majority of
the artists oppose it?

A2. No Phil a majority of the artists on MP3.com do not post on the
messageboards. There are over 65,000 artists on MP3.com, And only a
percentage of the artists that do post oppose it.

* For more wisdom of Paradise see the Paradise Post

G-Spoof, The Enlightened one speaks:

"If something stank at mp3.com believe me I'd be the first and loudest opponent...mostly because I can take a five minute drive up to there house and talk with them directly (if I can get past the security guards
that is) there is nothing wrong with this new policy." G-Spoof "The Enlightened One"

Damn, I only got to mince one little hamster for dinner. The rest scurried back to their cage. All that squeeking tired them out. They will rest tonight and resume the wheel run in the morn. I gotta admit some of those little critters are cute. The female ones, I mean. I do hope they come back cause they sure are tasty.

What a bunch of bullshit. The BBS can be seen as representing the majority of artists. Galbatron's petition garnered over 250 responses the last time I looked at that. Relatively speaking, that is about 1/2 of all the artists on the site.

How do TV shows and crap get rated? A percentage of the US population is questioned and a figure (Number of Viewers in Millions) is extrapolated from thier response.

So, according to the MP3AABB, if each person who posts represents a number of MP3.com artists, as in maybe 100 artists (I don't know how that would be figured but leave it to MP3.con to add a logarithm to everything) then 25,000 artists oppose this which is about a quarter. But by now (if it has not been locked down) that post must have about 300 responses to I would say that a majority oppose that crap.

Yah, 300 is a pretty good percentage wouldn't you say Mr. Dice?

It would be extremely stupid of anybody who thinks number of people who posted to the petition, amounts to only a small minority.

The only way to make a judgements on popularity issues, is to vote. They spam enough other crap. Better yet, as weaponx said it, scientific polling.

I just think their focus is not on their 'supply' side. Maybe in the begining they had to attract the independant artists, but now they know they will alway have enough content. Displaying PfP for the successful artists is enough of a carrot dangled in front of other indies.

There are only 500 artists on mp3.com? I was sure there were more than that, like in the thousands.
